It is the beginning of a new year and people love to set a New year's resolution which they usually break shortly after. Why is that? It is hard to reach a goal if we do not put it in our daily schedule and if we do not break it down into small steps. This is easy, we just need to do it. Let's get started. NOW! 1. Write down your goals. For example:
2. Brainstorm what steps it needs to reach your goal. Example 1: Learn new repertoire.
For example: Monday: understanding and learning the words of the song Tuesday: learning the rhythm and music Wednesday: researching the background of the piece, etc. 3. Check back at the end of the week if you have reached your weekly goal and in case it is needed, adjust the upcoming schedule. 4. Reward yourself for every small goal you achieved. 5. Find a teacher, mentor or friend with whom you share your goals and who will check back and encourage you on your way to achieve your dreams for 2017. With every small step we take, we come closer to what we want to reach. Even half an hour practice a day is better than no practicing, ten minutes running better than no exercise. Start small, but be persistent and you will feel rewarded and satisfied with everything you do. I will sit down now and start my list. If you want to share yours, feel free to write a comment below. All the best and a happy new year for you! Christine Offer expires 1/31/17 and is valid only for new students.
