Dear students, colleagues, supporters and friends,
only a few more hours and the year 2017 is over. I always feel strange about it because I wanted to do so many things, too many things. I made it a tradition in the last years to sit down and take time to review the last year. I use my calendar and go through every week. Often I am astonished what I achieved. I easily forget about it when I move from one project to the next and time passes quickly. I am very grateful for 2017 and I want to thank you for being part of the GVAI family and for following our blog posts. A big thanks goes to Anikka Abbott for writing most of the very interesting blog posts and Susan, who shared her experiences of her audition tour in Germany with us. Danke sehr. I wish you a happy new year, time to enjoy, time to rest, time to be grateful and for those of you singing concerts, a healthy and beautiful voice. Your's Christine

Dear students, colleagues, supporters and friends,
I hope you have enjoyed the wonderful time of Advent. I do not want to keep you long. I bet you have important things to do: singing concerts, preparing church gigs, wrapping presents or flying around the country to visit family and friends. So this is the shortest blog post of the year. I just want to wish you Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas! May you have a wonderful time with peace, love and joy. Your's Christine This week in Susan’s German Audition Story, she travels to Poland. Wait, what? Yes, you read that right, Poland! Susan woke up to a surprise audition in Poland for a Mozart opera - an opportunity she just couldn’t pass up. It’s a role she loves and guess what, she’s even polish, though she doesn’t speak the language. Read on to see how she navigates a country she is totally unfamiliar with on a very tight, stressful timeline.
What do you do when you’re sick on your audition tour? Make the most of it and enjoy the culture! Even though Susan was battling a cold on week ten of her audition tour, she worked through it and decided to be a tourist. Susan travelled to Dresden and even met up with GVAI’s founder, Christine! They had the chance to attend a concert, eat some delectable German food, and visit a Weihnachtsmarkt.
Susan has spent just over two months auditioning in Germany. Though her German language skills are pretty stellar and she can find her way in a foreign city like a pro, she still sometimes has those difficult moments. Every singer is bound to experience a bad audition at least once in their life. If we are being really honest, they are bound to experience several. However, those who succeed are the ones who keep auditioning even after they have those bad days. Read on to see how Susan handles a bad audition experience like the successful singer she is.
